A native of Atlanta, Joe Wicker was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army after receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Oglethorpe University. While working in the financial services industry in 2001, Joe was called to active duty and served two deployments in Iraq: In 2003 as a tank platoon leader and in 2007 as an adviser to the Iraqi Security Forces. Joe was honorably discharged from the Army as a Captain in 2008, returning to Hillsborough County.
Upon leaving the military, Joe was recruited to be a business manager for a division of International Paper Co., where he managed more than $20 million in supply chain services. Today, he is the owner of Home Helpers Home Health Care which serves the needs of adult patients, allowing them to maintain their independence.
Joe is an active member of his community, having served as committee chairman in the Harbor Bay Development District, as a member of the Hillsborough County Citizens Advisory Committee and is an active supporter of the Kiwanis Club of Brandon and LifeCare. He is a member of the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee and has been active in numerous campaigns in the area.
Joe and his wife, Amy Elam of Brandon, live in Dover with their son and two daughters. They are both members of First Baptist Church of Brandon.
